Harvard’s Crimson Cash program, which allowed community members to add value to a Harvard ID-based declining balance account and make purchases on and around campus (i.e. dining, laundry, vending, etc.) is being phased out. This decision was made in close consultation with University partners and stakeholders given significantly reduced utilization of the program due to the evolving purchasing habits of the Harvard community. This process began approximately one year ago, when off-campus merchants and vending stopped accepting Crimson Cash; and continued in December 2024 when HUDS retail operations ceased to accept it as a payment method. Communications regarding this change have been sent out to Crimson Cash account holders starting at the end of the 23/24 academic year. The program will end June 30, 2025.

Laundry, copy/print and Student Grilles will be upgraded with new payment gateways that offer more payment choices and convenience for users.

Laundry

  • Laundry will transition to the CSCPay Mobile App – this will be a significant improvement to user convenience accepting all major credit cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Funds are loaded onto the app and there is no need to swipe a HUID. Please note there is NO FEE to add funds.
  • The app will show the availability of machines, wash and dry cycle status, and account balance information.
  • Signage will be provided at each location with instructions for using the app
  • Transition will begin the week of June 2, 2025
  • Some locations may be offline intermittently over the summer months as we work to complete the hardware updates for the Fall academic term. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  • Your building manager will be in touch with more specific details.

Copy / Printing

  • Crimson Print will transition to the Touchnet payment gateway, which accepts all major credit cards.
  • Students and guests will be able to add to or manage their printing account balances from the Crimson Print web portal.
  • The changeover is expected to take a few weeks, however, there will be no disruption to printing services during the transition

Student Grilles

  • When Student Grilles re-open in the Fall, in addition to BoardPlus, they will also offer Touchnet – Ustore which can be used with all major credit cards.
